Editorial Standards

Our standards.

The rules every writer, editor and freelancer at Hawthorne Edit works under.

1. Accuracy

Every factual claim is traced to a primary source and logged. A staff fact-checker reviews every piece before it reaches a client reviewer.

2. Sourcing

If a sentence cannot be sourced, it does not run. Market claims need two independent sources. Anonymous sources require an editor’s approval and a stated reason.

3. Independence and disclosure

We disclose paid relationships in the text. We do not pay for placement and we do not accept payment from sources.

4. Regulated content

We do not publish performance promises, and we flag performance figures, testimonials and forward-looking statements for compliance review. Digital asset content is written only for licensed or registered platforms and carries risk disclosures.

5. Ghostwriting

Articles written for executives are drafted with our editors. The executive approves every word and is accountable for the content.

6. Corrections

We correct errors in public. See the Corrections Policy.

7. Use of AI
